A day on the wine road !
Le Hameau de la Fausse Sauge is located halfway between the Chablisien and Sancerrois vineyards, making it the perfect base for a weekend of relaxation and wine discovery. Our partner Grapes&Corks offers you a day trip to Sancerre or Chablis.
Towards Sancerre the morning will be devoted to the discovery of the Sancerre region and the visit of a wine estate where the winegrower will share his know-how in viticulture and wine maturing.
Once a Huguenot stronghold, the town of Sancerre enjoys a beautiful panorama of the Loire River imposing a historical walk through the town. Lunch will take place in a typical bistro where you will be able to choose among regional dishes such as friture de la Loire or a salad of crottin de Chavignol. All this, of course, washed down with a good local wine!
Less extensive than its neighbour, the vineyard of Pouilly-sur-Loire produces a very characteristic Sauvignon blanc which is often imitated by winemakers from all over the world. You will be able to taste these wines during a visit to a winery where you will discover wines from different terroirs as well as a rare wine made from the Chasselas grape variety.
The day ends with a detour to les Coteaux du Giennois, an unknown appellation but undoubtedly offering the best quality/price ratio in the region.
To Chablis. In the morning you can stroll to the market (on Sundays), where the diversity and quality of the exhibitors make it one of the most quoted markets of the department. A tasting will complete the visit of the town during which you will learn the importance of the terroir for the classification of its chardonnays.
Your guide will take you to a viewpoint above the climates of Chablis so that you can enjoy an exceptional panorama of the region.
Lunch will take place in a typical bistro. Why not try one of the specialities such as the andouillette Chablis or a Jambon au Chablis?
In the afternoon, for lovers of great red wines, a visit to a winery in Irancy is a must as it is in this picturesque wine-growing village that you will discover the famous pinots noirs with a full-bodied mouth and a nose of raspberry and black fruits. The winemaker will introduce you to an ancestral grape variety, the César, still used in the blends of Irancy wines.
Finally, a last stop at the medieval village of Saint Bris will allow you to discover excellent sauvignon blanc, tasted in a 12th century cellar.
Prices :
- 360 euros per day. Lunch is also possible (25 euros per person).
From 4 persons, 50 euros per additional person.
